The Best High Tea Spots Across Canada
Tangled Garden, Grand Pre, N.S
Neverand Tea Salon, Vancouver B.C
On the other side of Canada, you’ll find Neverland. It may not be the Neverland you remember from your childhood, but it’s pretty close!
As its name suggests, this place is simply magical. It is the perfect mixture of both tradition and whimsy. They even offer Tinkerbell’s High Tea for children, which is the tea party we’ve all dreamed of.
Why not let your inner child out, and plan a little outing to Neverland?
Did you just walk into a Paris tea salon? It certainly feels that way!
Ladurée is a luxury French patisserie and tea salon, and is something out of a fairytale. From the ornate interiors to the luxurious packaging, this tea room will have you wanting to put on your best wares, perhaps a beautiful fascinator and drink your tea the British way- Pinky out!
Ladurée has 2 locations in Canada- Toronto, O.N and Vancouver, B.C, and so if you’re looking for something a little more luxurious, this could be the spot for you!
A mix of antique and retro decor make this Montreal tea room pretty special. Walk inside, and you’ll find a baby grand piano and chandelier; signs of its intended purpose of being a piano bar.
The Cardinal offers a sophisticated menu to accompany their selection of (mostly) black teas. The space certainly implies a more laid-back approach to the High Tea tradition, but it continues to be a favourite for locals and tourists alike.
The Ole’ Farmhouse Cafe, Rosenort, M.B
This Manitoba treasure is quite literally an old farmhouse and features a much more warm, relaxed environment. Owned by a mother of three, High Tea at the Ole’ Farmhouse will feel much like enjoying High Tea at your family home (assuming your family takes great pride in foods and their presentation, that is!).
They describe their menu as featuring homestyle flavours, but take a look at their website or instagram and you’ll see the amount of pride and love that goes into making their dishes- and tea- stand out.
The Vintage Tea Room, Saskatoon, S.K
The Vintage Tea Room offers an authentic British experience, offering many traditional foods such as meat pies, and British beans on toast. They have a large list of unique teas, and although they don’t refer to their service as ‘High Tea’, this vintage-inspired spot will dazzle you with their three special tea services.
The Secret Garden Tea Room, Vancouver, B.C
This charming tea room can be found within the village-like community of Kerrisdale. They are regarded as one of the best tea houses in Vancouver, and it’s no wonder why. A quick peek at their Instagram will have you swoooning over their endearing, pastel palette.
The Secret Garden Tea Company features a rotating seasonal menu, keeping things fresh and exciting for those who want to enjoy High Tea on a more regular basis, and they offer both Vegetarian and Vegan options to help cater to the wider public.
Cafe Linnea, Edmonton, A.B.
This French-inspired spot does High Tea a bit differently by hosting a monthly High Tea service. Enjoying High Tea at this biophilic space requires advanced planning, requiring that you purchase tickets about a month in advance. Just last month, they hosted a Scandinavian Summer Solstice High Tea.
This monthly service is regarded as a formal event, thus making it a great opportunity for celebrating a special day in a beautiful, open space surrounded by cascading greenery and sky high glass windows.
Dalvay by The Sea, Dalvay, P.E.I
Fit for even the Duchess of Cambridge herself, this historic Victorian building boasts a scenic view of the water.
Being that the venue is located on Prince Edward Island (a high volume tourist spot in Canada), High Tea at Dalvay By The Sea is only offered in July and August, but is highly regarded by many.
Fun Fact: Anne of Green Gables fans will remember this historic site as the “White Sands Hotel” in the Road to Avonlea 1990’s films.
Kitten & The Bear, Toronto, O.N
Offered only on weekends, a traditional “cream service” is offered at this elegant, dainty tea room and boutique. They describe their storefront as similar to a winery- but for tea! Tea cup sets line the brick walls of this gorgeous space, and everything from their jams and marmalade’s to their freshly baked scones, are handcrafted (and beautiful). What a great spot for an Instagram photo-op!
