Ways To Celebrate National Women’s Health And Fitness Day With Wellness Tea Blends

Health and Wellness

In recent years, we’ve shed more light on- and talked more about- women’s health in mainstream media, which is definite progress. Although women’s health still receives less-than-adequate attention, research and care.

National Women’s Health And Fitness Day aims to combat this deficit by empowering women to take the reins of their health and fitness through education and movement.

For me, one of the best motivators to bettering my health and forming new habits is to make it new, fun and inspiring! Luckily, for those of you who can relate, there’s no shortage of fun activities to engage in that can help us to feel more fit, empowered and confident.

Here are my favourite ways that you can celebrate and embrace National Women’s Health And Fitness Day:

#1. Take That New Class You’ve Been Eyeing!

A few years ago, I took an 8-week long aerial silks class and it was the most fun I’ve had in ages. It was daunting going into the class for the first time, but my confidence grew substantially through those 8 weeks, and I gained a new appreciation for an art that I’ve always admired from afar.

Now that I’m a Mum, an 8-week commitment doesn’t align with my precarious schedule, but luckily, new and exciting class offerings have been popping up all around Canada and offer a lot more flexibility.

From drop-in classes to new ‘student’ specials, what better time to try out that indoor workshop or class you’ve been admiring than now, as it starts getting colder outside?

If the idea of attending a new class alone makes your insides explode, try convincing a friend to come with you and remember: even the most talented performers and athletes (instructor included) had to start exactly where you are! And yes, they felt just as silly.

#2. Add A New Wellness Tea To Your Tea Roster

It could be something as simple as “drink more water” or getting off the bus one stop sooner, but adding small changes here and there makes a monumental difference overall.

Incorporating a new wellness tea into your tea rotation is an easy way to hydrate while also getting some pretty great benefits. The newest addition to our wellness tea family, Self Care Elixir, is a calming blend of vitamin-rich Moringa, strawberry leaves, orange, cinnamon, dandelion and safflower, making it as delicious as it is beautiful. Adding this wellness tea to your collection can help encourage a state of calm and mindfulness and provides the opportunity to try something new, which is of great benefit to both mind and body.

#3. Get To Know Your Health & Be Your Body’s Best Advocate

It can feel overwhelming, but knowing your health history and being actively involved in your health and wellness is so important! Being self aware and vulnerable about the areas of your life that need more commitment can help alleviate stress and anxiety. A great place to start is by doing a Brain Dump. Grab a notebook, scrap piece of paper or the notepad on your phone and write down any and everything that comes to mind. Don’t worry about working out kinks or details yet- simply focus on getting everything out of your head and onto paper. From there, you can highlight or circle the things that are time sensitive, the tasks causing you the most stress or anxiety, and the things that feel more easily achieved.

From there, schedule in those appointments and screenings you’ve been putting off (subconsciously or otherwise), and get to know the amazing body that’s carrying you through life!

#4. Track Your Progress & Celebrate Your Wins!

Tracking your progress is such an important part of implementing new habits, and writing everything down makes your goals and progress measurable. Measurable goals allow you to see and celebrate all of your hard work, which can feel so rewarding!

If you’re the type of person who gets carried away with health and fitness goals, you might want to take a more laissez faire approach here and use a very simple habit tracker.

You can also use a checklist like the ones in our Self Care Elixir and Triple Teatox wellness tea blends, which is an easy way to engage with your goals without allowing them to consume your life (something I’m sure many can relate to).

#5. Practice Self Compassion

It’s so easy to get caught up in all of the things we believe we should be doing in order to live a healthy life, but know that at the end of the day, the healthiest version of yourself is one that practices self compassion.

Make a point to surround yourself with those who help you feel empowered, capable and worthy instead of those who make you feel less than. Strive for balance- whatever that looks like for you. Perhaps most importantly, make health and fitness a part of a full, more abundant life.
