August Charitea Spotlight: Jubilee House

"Empowering women to improve their quality of life through a program of individualized

support and transitional housing."

We are honoured to be affiliated with the Jubilee house. In 2000, the year of jubilee, a group of people from various churches and community groups met to discuss a “Jubilee” project. The group felt that one of the most pressing needs within the community of Orillia was for transitional housing for homeless women and their children.

In March 2001, Couchiching Jubilee House was Incorporated in the Province of Ontario, and shortly afterwards obtained Federal Charitable status. That year, CJH opened the doors to the transitional house with 4 self-contained, fully furnished apartments.

Over the years, the program has grown to meet the needs of the women and children. Today, they aim to help women become self-sufficient by:

  • Supporting women in meeting their goals based on their personal strengths and their motivation for change
  • Helping women access the community resources they need and want
  • Offering supports from within our community and include the individual’s natural support system, volunteers and staff resources
  • Helping secure sustainable, safe housing

How's this for girl power: As of Spring 2014, Jubilee House has been “home” for over 76 women and 91 children.

Tease Tea is thrilled to be working with such an empowering, positive organization and will be donating proceeds from our WhatSheSaid collection, in addition to sponsoring their annual Fairways of Hope Golf Tournament.
